Following the projects and common agreements:
Follow up and proposal for new projects of common interest to the Seminar participants:
1. Distribution list and exchange file services
They informed the new participants in the Seminar of the existence of the CDENPMA Distribution List. Throughout the year, we exchange news of interest, and problems are raised and solved. Moreover, information and documentation also are exchanged. RedIris supports this List. It also has a web space where documents of interest to participants can be there. All interested parties are invited, encouraged, and reminded to subscribe and use it. If you have any question or a technical issue, you have to talk with Javier Puertas from Europarc Spain, who is the administrator of this list (jpuertas@europarc-es.org), or with Jorge Iriarte from Environmental Resources Center from Navarra (jorge@crana.org).
2. About he Network
It corrected the network's name (REIDA), and now it is called RECIDA, which means Information and Environmental Documentation Network Centers.
3. A pamphlet's publication
At the initiative of Documentary Center of the Natural Park from Zona Volcánica of Garrotxa and Natural Space Areas from Barcelona Council, a text proposal is revised and modified for the publication of a RECIDA pamphlet, which will be accompanied by the name of all the members of the network (with basic contact details: name of the CD (Documentary Center), telephone, and email); and a network logo that the Natural Park from Zona Volcánica of Garrotxa will try to design. The agreed version of the pamphlet text and the suggestions for the logotype will send to the List to discuss and finally approve it. CENEAM will fund the Castilian version.
The pamphlet pretends to attend to the necessities of two kinds of the public. On the one hand, it aims to support the current network participants to explain the collaboration project internally within the organization. On the other hand, to be the letter of introduction for those Environmental Documentary Centers that does not know about the existence of this network and could potentially become part of it.
4. Environment Documentary Centers Guide
One of the projects participants of the previous Seminar decided to carry out was the creation of a Environment Documentary Centers Guiden. In this Seminar, the participants have committed themselves to carrying out a prospection of their Autonomous Community to be able to do it. Moreover, to make this work easy, participants can use the Environmental Documentary Centers Directory hosted on the CENEAM website and published annually on paper.
A selection of fields that could use for the Guide will be proposed for possible suggestions.
The requirement for incorporation of an entity in this Guide is that it is a Documentation Center and/or Library from Spanish State with environmental content and an open service public.
5. Another projects
6. Organization and Seminar's working
Due to questions from various Centers about how the organization of the Seminars works, it is an initiative of CENEAM and supported by Natural Park from Zona Volcánica of Garrotxa. Moreover, each year if it arises, by the corresponding host. It is financed by CENEAM if it held in Valsaín —the Center´s headquarters—, and expenses are shared if the venue is elsewhere. Attendance to the seminars is voluntary and open but agreed upon by the organizers, trying to have as much representation of autonomous communities as possible, depending on the available budget. In any case, anyone interested in further information can contact any of the people involved until now in the Seminars organization.
As for the venue of the next edition of the Seminar, different proposals are presented informally: Regional Government from Andalucía, Aragón, and the Canary Islands. If there is no firm proposal for the venue of the next Seminar, this will hold at the CENEAM, Valsaín (Segovia).
Regarding the structure and the program, it agreed to continue in general terms with the model followed in this edition (a framework paper and a technical paper, brief interventions by the new participants, and presentation of experiences by the participants) since the majority of the participants' assessment was positive.
It decided that the next edition will not deal monographically with one topic, but that apart from the topic of digital libraries (which continues to be of interest), will add new points of interest: management and treatment of cartography; compilations of environmental bibliographic resources; use of the distribution list and the archive service; quality in CDs, and sources and financial resources for Environmental Documentary Centers with scarce economic resources (it commented that, in the first edition of the Seminar, these last two topics had been addressed partially).
It reported the conclusions are going to upload on the CENEAM website soon, together with the presentations made at this year's Seminar and the previous one.
A Follow-up Team is composed of the representatives of CENEAM and the hosts of the Seminars that have been held so far (Catalonia and Navarra). This group will finalize the Seminar proposals, collect new contributions, monitor their implementation and inform the rest of the group about the status of the projects. It will also be in charge of the organization of the following Seminars.
7. Requests
Over the Seminar, it has had several requests for help in solving technical or more general problems. These included the following:
Some of these questions can solve through the mailing list. In other cases, it might be necessary to address it monographically in a Seminar.
